*******The first time I heard this song I said, “No Maroon 5, no.” in quite the sad voice. Then I saw Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera absolutely kill it on “The Voice”! Despite my initial rejection (as if it really mattered in the grand scheme of things), Moves Like Jagger turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2011. As a requirement for a song to be a hit–it’s quite catchy. I hear people humming and singing it all the time. I hope to hear it tonight as we ring in the New Year and I might even catch someone…anyone breaking it down…that would be a BONUS!!!*******

“The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn’t being said.”
—Peter Drucker: was an influential writer & management consultant
*******Reading between the lines (or listening between the sounds if you will) is an important part of communication. If a girl asks her friend if she looks fat in a dress and the friend says the dress is a little tight around her stomach, she’s basically saying the girl looks fat in the dress. Along with that sugar-coated uttering is what we call body language. I’m sure you’ve heard the quote, “Actions speak louder than words” before. They most certainly do. I love to observe other’s body language when they’re having a conversation with me or when I see two or more people communicating. I will listen to the person, but watch their body language at the same time. This is how I “hear” the words that aren’t said verbally. When one person’s movements are mimicked by another, it means the mimicker is comfortable with or likes the mimicked. When you are conversing with someone and they’ve turned to the side and look at you out of the corner of their eye, they could care less about what you’re saying. People make the grave mistake of not paying attention to what others are really saying and they wind up with their feelings getting hurt or in a compromising situation. Once I learned how to read between the lines, listen between the sounds and read body language, I learned how to call another’s bluff, catch someone in a lie, tell if someone is interested in me or what I have to say, or just chuckle to myself at other’s antics and tactics. Next time you have a conversation with someone, go into it eyes wide open and ready to simply observe and listen to the silence.*******

*******The first time I heard this song today, I thought it was just okay. Now after hearing it 4 times and watching her perform live, I’m diggin’ it. I absolutely love Jessie J’s voice. This girl has some pipes and a whole lot of soul!

“Never stop until your good becomes better, and your better becomes the best.”
Frank Zappa
1940-1993, Singer-Songwriter
*******Have you recently accomplished a goal and thought what you did was good? Did you think you could have done better? Why didn’t you? If you find yourself being really good at something, improve upon it. Although there are many different outcomes to an action, there will always be a chance for there to be a better outcome. So, why stop at good? Never think that just because you’ve done something better than you did before, it means that’s all you’ll ever need to do. Go for the gold!!! It’s when you’ve done your best–you can rest. Until then put your nose to the grindstone.*******

*******Now that’s some blue-eyed soul there! I love this song and I found myself saying, “Sang it boy!” Their live rendition was spot on. A friend of mine mentioned “Some Kind of Wonderful” the other day and I realized I had never seen the movie. I’ve been watching it this morning and it’s pretty good so far. I have to see how this all plays out.

“What if you could be anything, or anybody, you chose to be? Think about it. What would you choose to be?”
—Nido Qubein: is a businessman and motivational speaker
*******I remember as a child, I wanted to be an astronaut; as a pre-teen, a chef; as a teenager, a cop; as a young adult, a pediatric forensic pathologist, then a singer/songwriter/model/actress, then a journalist. That’s quite a bit I know and it’s not that I’m fickle, I’ve just always wanted to do everything! But, the one thing I love to do the most since I was a child–is write. I am a writer. I have been since I learned the English language and could put pen to paper. Why did I go into the Air Force to be a law enforcement/security officer; get into the entertainment industry as a singer/songwriter/model/actress, or have short stints as a CNA, a waitress, a security guard, a phone sales rep., an insurance agent, when the passion burning inside me was fueled by putting my thoughts onto paper? I have no idea why I’ve stalled this long, but I do know, everything happens for a reason and there is a time and place for every event to occur. Apparently, my time to be a writer is now. If I had a choice between being a famous singer, actor or writer. I’d shout, “WRITER!!!” from the mountaintops. Being a writer is my choice. Fortunately, it is my passion. I believe you should choose who or what you want to be based upon your passion. What is your passion? Who or what would you be if you had the choice?*******

*******This is such a groovy tune. Yes, I said groovy. It has a Motown feel to it and it made me nod my head and put a stank face on. Now that’s a good song!!!

“Picture yourself in your minds eye as having
already achieved this goal. See yourself doing the things you’ll be doing when you’ve reached your goal.”
— Earl Nightingale: was an American motivational speaker and author
*******Visualization is a very powerful tool when desiring something or wanting to achieve a goal. After watching “The Secret”, I began using the visualization technique as outlined and I immediately saw results. l also made a vision board. I put pictures of all of the goals I wanted to reach and all the things I desired. I used to look at the board and meditate while visualizing everything coming to pass. Unfortunately, I lost it during a move, but I plan on making another one as soon as possible. If you are interested in this type of new age belief, I encourage you to get “The Secret”, so you too can learn how to visualize and see what you’ve envisioned, materialize right before your very eyes.*******
